Notes.-There were originally two ships in this class, begun at Elswick in May-June, 1913, for the Norwegian Navy, as the Coast Service Battleships Bjoerqvin and Nidaros. Construction was stopped when war began, and they lay in the Tyne in an incomplete condition until 1915, when they were taken over for the British Navy and named Glatton (ex Bjoerqvin) and Gorgon (ex Nidaros). Glatton blew up at Dover during September, 1918. As originally designed, this ship had a beam of 55.75 feet and a speed of 15 kts. Beam has been increased and speed reduced by the addition of " blisters " to the hull. The belt may never have been fitted.
