NAVAL ORDNANCE: MEDIUM B.L. Following are correct details of 5.5 inch. Length, 50 cals. Weight of gun, 6 tons 4 cwt. Weight of projectile, 82 lbs. M. V., 2950 ft./secs. M. E., 4520 ft.-tons. Weight of charge, 23.5 lbs. Rounds per minute: 12. Remarks. Mounted in Hood. Range, at 30° elevation : 12,000 yards.

The Russian (Black Sea) Dreadnought, VOLYA wad temporarily taken over by the British Navy during 1919: reported to have joined Gen. Denikin's Naval Forces in the Black Sea and to have been re-named GENERAL ALEXEIEFF.

INDOMITABLE to be sold.

CAPETOWN to be towed to Pembroke D.Y. for completion.

  • Unofficially reported that EFFINGHAM will be built as air Aircraft carrier.

CALLIOPE (and other Light Cruisers) no longer have searchlight and control tower amidships.

FOX for disposal.

Note.--Roberts is not included in the Post-War Fleet Organization. The above photograph has, however, been selected as an illustration, because it gives, by far, the best impression of the box-like hull and huge beam of the big Monitors. The projection of the " bulges " is also very clear in the above view. The formation and throwing-off of the coarse bow-wave are also worth noting.

Destroyers.

Russian (Black sea) Destroyer Derski has been temporarily taken over by British Navy.

Tryphon (Yarrow " S" Type) did not go aground on Danish Coast, as stated. She went aground at Tenedos about last June and lay there on her beam-ends fur three weeks. She was salved and brought to Pera for temporary repairs. She was then towed to Malta, but nearly sank on passage. She is said to be too badly damaged for any further use, but an H.M.S. Triton, perhaps, Tryphon - was recently reported as repairing by Yarrows.

Illustration or Taurus (Thornycroft "R") is really Patriot (Thornycroft "M").

Nizam to be sold.


D.C.B. (Depth Charge Boats).

These are a modified type of C.M.B. without torpedoes in troughs but, carrying Thornycroft Depth Charge Throwers or U. S. type Y-guns and special load of Depth Charges.

About 100 ML. (Motor Launches) have been sold.


Submarines.

Delete F Class Submarines and E54: all are for sale. Delete: L 55, lost 1919.


Aircraft Carriers.

VINDICTIVE reported very badly damaged by grounding in the Baltic. NAIRANA re-conditioned for mercantile service. EAGLE to be towed to Portsmouth D.Y. for completion


Minesweepers.

Delete : KINROSS (of later "Hunt" Class), lost in Ęgean 1919. FANDANGO (not listed) of " Dance " Class, armed with 1-6 pdr. AA. gun, lost 1919.
