Note.- On the right sleeve only, inverted chevrons are worn for every year of War Service since August 5th, 1914. The first and lowest chevron in silver is for War Service up to Dec. 31st, 1914. The upper gold chevrons are for each years service from Jan. 1st. 1915. Also worn by the Royal Marines, R.A.N., R.C.N., R.N.R., R.F.R., R.N.V.R., R.N. Sick Berth Reserve and officers of the Mercantile Marine serving in H.M. Ships and Auxiliaries.

Personnel and Navy Estimates. 1919-20.

Provisional Estimates have only been presented to Parliament, for the sum of £149,200,000, but, it is noted that revised and detailed Estimates will be presented at a later data in the Financial year. Personnel is estimated at 280,000 officers, seamen, boys, coastguards, and Royal Marines, but this total is being rapidly decreased by demobilisation and discharges. It was 180,000 in August, 1919, and will be about 147,000 in Jan., 1920.
