6 Armstrong Whitworth: H 41 - H 46 (launched 1918-19).
4 Beardmore: H 47 - H 50 (launched 1918-19).
2 Pembroke D.Y. : H 51 (1918), H 52 (1919).
  • Single-hull "Holland" (Electric Boat Co.) type modified by Admiralty. Dimensions: 164.5 (pp.), 171 (o.a.) x 15.75 feet.
  • Guns: Majority have 1 - 3 inch AA. Tubes: 4 - 21 inch bow, but minelaying boats may have only two or none.
  • Machinery: 2 sets of Diesel engines of various types. Oil : 16 tons. Other details as Table.

Notes.- Not known how many of these boats are Minelayers. All built under War Emergency Programme. Not yet certain that all of these will be finished; some, may be cancelled. During the War, H 1 - 10 types were assembled by the Canadian Vickers Co., Montreal, and crossed Atlantic under their own power. On war service, these boats proved very successful, and were about the most popular type with the British Submarine Service. H 11 - 20 were assembled by the Bethlehem Steel Co. and Fore River Co., U.S.A., but were interned by the U.S. Government. On the entry of the U.S. into the War, the boats were released, but were not taken over by British Navy. Six boats (H 13, H 16 - 20) were presented to Chile, H 14, H 15 presented to Canada, H 11 H 12 put on Sale List. 1919. H 21 - 52 were designed as an improvement on the original H 1 - 10 boats having 21 inch tubes instead of 18 inch.

War Losses.- None in above H 21-52 Class. Of the H 1 - 10 Class, H 3, 5, 6, lost during War.

Removals.- H 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10 (H 1 - 10 Class), H 11, H 12, (H 11 - 20 Class) all on Sale List, 1919.
