Working the 6 inch gun on the Forecastle
As several viewers have pointed out, it is interesting to note that several of the gun’s crew are barefoot. This was common practise in the mid-1890s when this photo was taken.
[One wonders how many serious foot injuries there were due to this practice? PB]
